Remember your baby isn’t lung breathing yet so the baby is still breathing through this oxygenated cord. If baby’s head is presenting with the cord around it the mama can even do this herself or even ask the care provider to slowly untangle the cord so that the baby can be able to come up to the mama’s chest.

Let's talk Nuchal Cords...
•
It can feel alarming🚨when the umbilical cord is wrapped around baby's neck, but in the majority of cases it's a pretty harmless occurrence.
•
Babies 🚼 receive all the oxygen🫁 they need in utero from the umbilical cord which is protected by something called Wharton's Jelly. The jelly surrounds the vessel and arteries within the cord preventing compression and allowing for continuous blood🩸 flow.
•
If the cord is wrapped tightly or more than once, a skilled provider👩🏾‍⚕️ can help to further prevent compression by guiding baby's head👶🏼 as the rest of baby's body emerges during childbirth.

We need to stop viewing postpartum support as a luxury and start seeing it as a necessity. Our investment in the fourth trimester is an acknowledgement of the preciousness of life — not just the baby’s life, but also the mother’s life . . . When a woman feels supported, the baby thrives, the relationship thrives, our community thrives, and our planet thrives. So find your village or create your village and thrive.” ❤️

During pregnancy, a woman's brain shrinks by 5%. A During pregnancy, a woman's brain shrinks by 5%.
At the same time, other parts of her brain are 'wired' which prime her to be alert and connect with the baby.
Pregnancy is extremely energy-dependent and can take nutrients from other parts of the mother's body. A growing baby then takes all that it requires from the mother.

You can often see the signs of depletion in the teeth of the mother..

…Being tired and overwhelmed is considered part and parcel of becoming a mother. Yet it seems, in today's busy society, tiredness and that sense of being overwhelmed have been normalized to the point where women are no longer cared for in the way they need to be after the birth and well beyond.'

Playlists can be a huge oxytocin driver for lots of people during labour and birth.
Whether birthing vaginally or abdominally, the sound of a familiar song can transform the vibe of a room and help to settle any adrenaline or nerves.

Any genre goes- the key is it makes you feel good!

What would your ultimate feel good oxytocin-fuelling song be?? 🎶

It’s hard to believe that one practice can bring It’s hard to believe that one practice can bring so many benefits. But the raw truth is it can!

The realms that yoga explores are not just the physical.

Through accepting our bodies during the physical asanas we are offered an opportunity to unlock our emotions, reset our nervous system and drop into the soulful truth of what is present. We connect to the power of our breath to sink deeper, to allow what is to be and to let go.

This awareness especially when pregnant can make our experience a more fulfilling one.

Prenatal yoga also allows the time and space for the mental, emotional and spiritual significance of pregnancy and birth to be and prepares us to walk through the gates of birth and motherhood again and again.

There are many reasons to practice pregnancy yoga these are just a few.

* Relaxation
* Optimise babies position
* Bringing balance into body
* Pelvic floor awareness and health
* Relieve common aches associated with growing a baby
* Improved sleep
* Improves self belief
* Connection with self and baby
* Release anxiety
* Body Consciousness
* Breath awareness
* Helps postpartum recovery

Seated deep in our knowing, trusting our bodies wisdom and confident in ourselves are all fantastic ways to approach the journey of Birth and Motherhood.

Join me during your second and third trimesters from the comfort of your own space✨ See the link in my bio to invest in yourself now. 🌺 Alana
